Membership matters

[This was sent via e-mail, but posted here for other’s reference – particularly since everyone is on the membership committee!]
Dear branch presidents and membership vice presidents –

The state’s recruiting for you!
We’ll have an AAUW North Carolina booth at the NC Conference for Women in Charlotte on October 19. We are highlighting AAUW’s research efforts and providing information on how to join. The “Shape the Future” discounts apply at the event, so new branch members will get 50% off the Association dues. I’m hoping we get at least one new member for each of our branches!

If there’s an event in your area where you could use a similar booth, please contact me or Barbara White.

New membership brochure
I hope you all are carrying the new membership brochure with you! It’s a great summary of why people would want to join AAUW! We’ve ordered 500 copies and any left over from the Charlotte event will be given out at the Statesville meeting. But please remind your branch members that everyone can order 25 absolutely free by using the Supply Order Form you can find on www.aauw.org (Member Center > Forms or go directly to the form). Larger quantities can be ordered through ShopAAUW – the only charge is for shipping.

Note that the new form does have a place to enter the “recruiter’s” name. This ties into the Member-Get-A-Member campaign. I hope to see *every* branch represented in the Hall of Fame by next spring!

More membership discussions
Our Association Leader for the AAUW NC Convention will be Ann Gustafson, Association Membership Vice President. She’s in large part responsible for the new membership resources on www.aauw.org — for example the “branch turnaround stories” at the membership ideas page. She’ll be available to us as a “consultant” throughout 2007, so if there are membership questions, please do contact Barbara to see how we can engage Ann in helping to grow all the branches!

Thanks for all you’re doing and I hope to see many of you in a couple of weeks!
