AAUW is looking for a regional liaison for the South Atlantic region (VA, WV, NC, SC, GA, FL, PR) to provide support for an NSF funded project focused on girls in science, technology, engineering, and math. AAUW is particularly interested in finding a liaison from North Carolina because one of the two collaborative lead organizations for the South Atlantic region is the Science House Girls Collaborative at North Carolina State University. The National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP), also funded as a separate project by NSF, aims to increase gender equity in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The NGCP develops regional collaboratives across the country to help girl-serving organizations, education, business and industry work together to leverage resources and provide more opportunities for girls and young women in the STEM fields. See www.pugetsoundcenter.org/ngcp/wgcp.
More on regional liaison position
Simply stated, the function of the Regional Liaison (RL) is to help individuals make connections – to one another, to resources on gender equity, and to AAUW. This is a volunteer position, newly created for the purpose of completing activities related to the NSF grant. AAUW estimates that the Regional Liaison position will require, on average, ten to fifteen (10-15) hours per month.
