Jane Stephenson, AAUW NC convention speaker, to be interviewed on UNC-TV

Jane Bauchum Stephenson, Chair of the Board of Trustees for Lees-McRae College and founder of the New Opportunity School for Women at Lees-McRae College and Berea College, will be the featured guest on UNC-TV’s “NC People with Bill Friday” in June.

Among the topics Jane will share (as she did with AAUW) will be the story of the New Opportunity School for Women at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Now in its third year at Lees-McRae College (having originated at Berea College more than twenty years ago), the program has been empowering Appalachian women and giving them the tools they need to succeed both personally and professionally. This year’s program at Lees-McRae will be July 8-28, 2007, and applications are still being accepted. For more information, please contact the New Opportunity School for Women at Lees-McRae College, (828)898-8905, nosw@lmc.edu
