Notes from NC Women United

There’s been a recent flurry of information on the NC Women United e-mail list. AAUW NC is a member of the NCWU coalition. If you’d like to be one of the AAUW NC contacts on that list, please contact advocacy chair Mary Peterson or president Nancy Shoemaker.

Check this op-ed piece on federal funding for abstinence until marriage sex ed from the Nov. 28 Raleigh News and Observer, written by Janet Colm.

NC NOW is running their annual campaign to collect signatures of those who “support a woman’s right to safe, legal, and accessible birth control and abortion.” to publish in the Independent next January. Copies of this two-page spread are delivered to all the NC legislators. This is also a fundraiser for NC NOW that helps to pay for the work of their lobbyist, Paula Wolf.
