Highlights for the July 25-26 meeting

  • by

It is time to register for the summer meeting in Salisbury. The deadline is July 12, this Saturday. You can find the form in the Tar Heel News (PDF online version) which should be in your mailbox soon if it’s not already. Here is the information you need to register:

The registration fee for the meeting is $15.00 and reservations should be made by July 12, 2008. Please make your checks out to AAUW-Salisbury Branch and send your check to:

Harriett Murphy
152 South Milford Drive
Salisbury, NC, 28144.

If you need a hotel room for Saturday evening, but haven’t made a reservation, please post to the AAUW NC e-mail list or write info@aauwnc.org or call 866/525-2155.

It is important that as many members of your branch as possible should try to attend. As I mentioned at the after-convention meeting, we will be discussing the State projects and how they will work in greater detail. John Hoffler from the BDPA will be there to explain how the STEM program (based on their High School Computer Competition) will work for us.

We will also hear from Association on what’s happening and you will be given the opportunity to ask Carolyn Garfein questions on how she would transition us into the new format if she becomes the consolidated president. If you haven’t heard, she is running for Association/Foundation President. This is your chance to tell her your thoughts and see what she has to say.

Finally, I want you to know that this will be a working conference. We will all participate in trying to help each other with ideas on increasing membership, having interesting programs, etc. I don’t want you to come to just sit and listen to us talk. I want you to come with your branch problems and input into what we can do to make you have better leaders in your branches and in the state. I am also looking for people to volunteer to be on committees to help spread the work. So many times we leave it to others to do all the work and burn them out.Serving should be rewarding, educational and FUN. But that only happens if we all pitch in.
