AAUW Jacksonville Regional Branch October 2008 Newsletter

PRESIDENTS’ MESSAGE: We would like to briefly recap our September meeting: Due to a generous donation from Chris Almeida, our scholarship fund was at $500. We discussed giving one $500 scholarship or two $250 scholarships. Our hesitation on committing to $500 annually led to the decision to stay with two $250 scholarships. With college expenses so high we wondered just how much help $250 would be. However, our latest recipient, Amy Cavanaugh, wrote to express profound appreciation for our scholarship. She proudly wrote how her position of lab technician provided results to doctors, and that 80% of doctors’ diagnoses are based on lab results.
To assist us with programming for the rest of the year, please review these options and let us know which ones appeal to you by e-mailing JoAnn – coachjo@embarqmail.com or Judy – jmartin27@ec.rr.com . Could you commit to one activity this fall and one meeting in 2009?
