AAUW Jacksonville Regional Branch October 2010 Newsletter

Greetings! I am so grateful for our cooler weather! I have scheduled the Board Room in the Education Building at Onslow Memorial Hospital for our annual holiday party and silent auction. This year the profits from the silent auction will be going to our scholarship fund at Coastal Carolina Community College. I have been working with an organizer at home and I have “unearthed” a variety of treasures that I will be bringing for our auction. As always, family, friends and other guests are invited and welcome.

Many thanks to Connie Gamble Ochse for hosting our September meeting, and “thank you” in advance to Chris Almeida for hosting our October meeting – JoAnn

Our next meeting: October 25 (Monday), 3:30 p.m. at Chris Almeida’s house, 147 Brookview Court (Northwoods). Our program will address the issues of caregiving.

Oktoberfest 2010: Saturday, October 23, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., is the date of the third annual Oktoberfest at Riverwalk Crossing Park in downtown Jacksonville. All proceeds benefit Onslow Community Outreach, which includes the soup kitchen, homeless shelter, volunteer center, health clinic and Christmas Cheer program. Stop by the Onslow County Council for Women booth and say “Hi” to Connie and Evelyn. They will be handing out information of particular interest to women. Don’t forget to treat yourself to a wonderful German meal in the food tent and stroll by all the interesting vendors throughout the park.
