AAUW NC Feb. 1, 2011 Membership Report
Note that the Tar Heel branch numbers cannot be compared directly to numbers of other branches. While most branches have at most a handful of dual members (members who pay their national dues through another branch), many AAUW NC members in other branches have joined the Tar Heel branch to be connected to a community of those who see value in AAUW outside of their community. The current 78 members of the Tar Heel branch include 30 people who are primary members of other NC branches. Looking just at “primary” members of the Tar Heel branch, the figures for 2009, 2010, and 2011 would be 16, 28, 44 respectively. (The THB also includes two college/university reps and two dual members from out of state.) The “primary” one-year rate of growth is 57% — still remarkable, but not as high as the 65.96% shown on the report.
