Jacksonville Regional Branch March 2011 Newsletter

President’s Message

Greetings!

By the time we meet on the 28th of March, spring will officially be here! I am definitely ready for a few warmer, milder days.

It is time to begin thinking about branch officers for the 2011-2012 membership year. Although we are a small branch, our membership seems to have stabilized at round 15 members for the last few years. Please contact me if you are interested in serving our branch in any capacity.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone on the 28th at Southern Comforts in the upstairs meeting room. We have an excellent guest speaker and literacy program planned. And don’t forget that guests are welcome anytime. See you there!

Our next meeting: March 28 (Monday), 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at Southern Comforts, 715 Gum Branch Rd. (in the former Onslow Office Supplies location). We will be in the upstairs meeting room. Program: Collette Boyd, Executive Director of the Onslow Literacy Council, will be our speaker. Refreshments will be provided. Be sure to allow yourself extra time to look at all the wonderful items in the Southern Comforts store.

Reminder: Our branch website is available 24 hours a day with our branch newsletters, current and past, and the latest information on what we are doing. So if you accidentally erase this e-mail, don’t worry. We are still here! Go to www.jacksonville.aauwnc.org .

Upcoming activities: The Onslow County Council for Women has invited our branch to participate in their information booth at the Oktoberfest this year. Last year, OCCW handed out information of interest to women and their families at the booth. Included in the material offered was the AAUW NC newsletter, the Tar Heel News. The response was overwhelming and gratifying. Be thinking about additional hand-outs that we could make available this fall.
