AAUW Celebrates New Law to Ease Student Loan Burden
The American Association of University Women applauds President Bush for signing the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (H.R. 2669) today, a bill that will increase scholarships and reduce loan costs for undergraduate students.

AAUW Applauds Senate Passage of Hate Crimes Prevention Act
AAUW congratulates the Senate for passing the Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act as an amendment to the defense authorization bill (H.R. 1585).

Principles and Priorities — AAUW’s Public Policy Program

Affirmative Action Resource Kit now available online
AAUW’s Public Policy department has released a new resource kit which contains information on state-based anti-affirmative action initiatives and a variety of useful resources for taking action against them. It also contains step-by-step suggestions to help plan counter campaigns and turn out voters to defeat such measures.

New resources about equitable opportunities in college athletics
Since 1972, when Congress passed Title IX, opportunities for female students to participate in college athletics have increased dramatically. Before the law was passed, there were fewer than 30,000 female varsity athletes at the university level; the number is now more than five times that.
